Since a very long time, women have been facing inequality and social injustice. They have been deprived of the right to education and have always been regarded as inferior to men. While many women succumbed to such unfair social practices, some showed the courage to set career goals for themselves and pursue their dreams. Today, they serve as an inspiration to several young women who want to achieve something in life. Here, we tell you the life story of one such woman from Baramulla who runs a packaging and decorating business. Her name is Syed Naireen Zein.
Syed Naireen Zein, aged 25, is a budding entrepreneur from Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir. During this year’s Ramadan, she started a business of decorating and packaging. Her business is named Sheen Wraps N Ribbons.
Naireen has earned a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and is pursuing a Master’s in Transportation Engineering. She is equally focused on her packaging business and dreams to achieve success in this venture.
In the area where she lives, there was no packaging and decorating service available, due to which customers in her vicinity had to go to places far away, just for these services. Naireen herself faced this problem many times, and that triggered the idea of starting a business in packaging. A packaging service, she thought, would be of great use for everyone during festivals, functions and other occasions where gifts or sweets are exchanged.
Once, there was a small marriage function in Naireen’s family and she was asked to make chocolate baskets and platters. Her work was appreciated by everyone around her, and this served as an encouragement to start a packaging business.
She started this venture with the intent to help people of her hometown with packaging and decorating. Her services have made it easy for people to get goods packaged, and that too at reasonable prices. Initially, she gave the packaging services only in North Kashmir but within a few months, she started catering to the entire Kashmir division.
Naireen always had a dream to start her own business but she was unsure about where and how to start; only until she correctly understood the market requirement. Once she knew that packaging and decorating services would be helpful for people in and around Baramulla, she ventured into this idea; and that’s how Sheen Wraps N Ribbons began.
Naireen wasn’t sure if she would get a good response and if her business would flourish. Due to the pandemic, she was even more doubtful of whether she would be able to keep her business running. However, people liked her work, and her business is growing. She gives trousseau packing and gift packing services and also provides gift hampers, chocolate baskets, bouquets, mehendi platters, and nikah plates. She even customizes them based on buyers’ requirements. She provides these at affordable prices, which has further popularized her business in Kashmir.
While speaking about her work, Naireen says that she would not have been able to run her business without the support of her parents. While speaking about her ideology, she says that she always puts herself in the customers’ shoes and decides the prices accordingly. Putting the customer first, she always maintains high quality in her packaging and decorating services.
Women like Syed Naireen Zein serve as an example of how determination and sincere effort can help a seemingly impossible dream, come true. Naireen’s story can surely motivate all young women who dream to be entrepreneurs.
