Kashmir Tours in Summer: Best Places to Visit

Summer in Jammu is from March to May and from May to August in the Kashmir Valley. Summer in Jammu can be harsh with temperatures rising above 45 degrees Celsius; however, summer in the Kashmir Valley is mostly pleasant. The weather is cool for most of the day and it gets warm only during the afternoons.

Pahalgam: It’s a small town where you can experience calm. If visiting Pahalgam during summer, you should visit tourist places lie the Aru Valley, Betaab Valley and Chandanwadi, and enjoy pony rides in the greens.

Sonmarg: The best reason to visit Sonmarg in summer is the spectacular display of flowers that bloom between April and June. Yusmarg, a hill station in the Pir Panjal range, Baltal Valley which provides views of waterfalls and glaciers, and lakes like the Gangabal, Krishansar, and Gadsar, are some of the tourist attractions in Sonmarg.

Gulmarg: Gulmarg has Asia’s highest ropeway. A gondola ride on this ropeway would be a thrilling experience. Golfing at the Gulmarg Golf Club would also be enjoyable.

Srinagar: Enjoy a shikara ride and a houseboat stay on the Dal or Nigeen Lakes. A walk by the lakeside will also be worth experiencing. This city is also one of the best places to shop in J&K.

Pulwama: This district in Jammu and Kashmir is another place best visited in summer. During your trip to Pulwama, a visit to the Aharbal waterfall, the Tarsar and Marsar lakes, and monuments like the Payar temple and the Avantishwar temple, should not be missed. Since Pulwama is known for its saffron cultivation, buying saffron has to be on your list of things to do in Pulwama.

Kishtwar: Located on the banks of Chenab River, this district is good for summer tourism in Kashmir, since the weather is clear and temperatures are moderate during this season. The Warwan Valley, known as a trekking destination, and the Kishtwar National Park are among the must-visit places when here.

Kupwara: Kupwara is among the best places to visit in summer in Jammu and Kashmir. When here, the Lolab Valley, known for its natural beauty and wildlife, the Bungus Valley, known for its caverns and caves, and the many shrines located here, are worth a visit.

Patnitop: It is one of the summer vacation destinations in Jammu and Kashmir. A trek from Patnitop to Nathatop will let you experience the beauty of mountains and greenery. The 600-years-old Naag Mandir is another place of interest. Nature lovers can enjoy nature walks while the adventure lovers can go for paragliding.

Katra: Summer, which starts in mid-April, is a good time to visit Katra. As the festivals of Chaitra and Sharad-Ashwin fall during this time of the year, numerous tourists flock to Katra during the summers. Temples such as the Vaishno Devi Temple, Bhairavnath Temple, and the Raghunath Temple are among the must-visit places here.

Achabal: Located near Anantnag, Achabal is known for its ancient spring and the surrounding garden. Summertime, which is from March to June, is considered as the best time to visit Achabal.
