KU Ranks among 50 Universities in NIRF Ranking, 2021 – Facts and Parameter Scores
The Union Ministry of Education conducts an all-India ranking of universities under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)-2021. Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, electronically released the NIRF rankings. As informed by him, 6,272 applications had been made by 4,030 unique applicant institutions under various multiple categories/ domains. He pointed to a noteworthy increase in institutional participation this year.
As mentioned earlier, KU bagged 48th position with an overall score of 46.97. Its scores across vital parameters are:
– Graduation Outcome (77.03 points)
– Teaching, Learning, and Resources (60.49 points)
– Outreach and Inclusivity (50.12 points)
– Peer Perception (25.52 points)
– Research and Professional Practices (19.51 points)
Additionally, among all universities, IITs, and other institutions evaluated by the Ministry, KU’s overall rankings rose from 78 in 2020 to 76 in 2021.

KU’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Talat Ahmad referred to the university’s achievement as a testimony to the fact that the varsity is making outstanding progress in its continuing journey toward academic excellence.
He said, “It is also an endorsement of the great commitment of our teachers, officers, students, scholars, and non-teaching staff to take this institution to newer heights vis-Ã -vis academics, research, and extension education.” Furthermore, he also informed that the varsity has plans and policies to establish new academic benchmarks and standards and make efforts necessary to rank among the top 20 universities across the country in the years to come.
Additionally, he appreciated the efforts of the university’s Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA) for its consistent focus on rankings and parameters. Moreover, the university’s registrar, Dr. Nisar A Mir, congratulated the stakeholders for achieving the rankings, which will also help shape the university’s policies for its continued progress and excellence.
About NIRF
The National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) was approved by the Ministry of Human Resources Development. It was launched by the Minister of Human Resource Development on September 29, 2015. It formulates the methodology to rank institutions across the country. The methodology derives from the overall recommendations a comprehensive understanding arrived at by a Core Committee established by the MHRD to identify the parameters to rank institutions and universities.
